US results follow the standard federal Monday–Friday holiday calendar. They are not bank, ACH, Federal Reserve or stock exchange calendars. UK results use the selected region’s bank holidays; individual employers may differ.

How subtraction works

The starting date is not counted. We step backwards one calendar day at a time and count only eligible working days. The last counted working day is the result. Zero days returns the original date.

Subtract 1 US business day from 3 January 2028 and the result is 30 December 2027. The weekend and the 31 December observed holiday do not count.

Coverage and limitations

Verified holiday dates cover 1 January 2026 to 31 December 2028. The calculator accepts up to 1,000 business days, but both the input and resulting date must remain within that coverage. UK regions differ, and additional bank holidays may be announced after this snapshot.
